Frequently asked questions
How long does HCPC registration take from India?▾
Most straightforward applications are processed within a few months, though it depends on how complete your application is and whether HCPC asks for a Test of Competence. We help you submit a complete application the first time, which is the biggest factor in keeping your timeline short.
Is IELTS or OET accepted for HCPC registration?▾
Both are accepted. HCPC generally looks for IELTS Academic with an overall score of 7.0 (no band below 6.5) or OET with a B in every sub-test, taken within the validity window HCPC specifies. We confirm the current requirement for your profession during your eligibility check.
What is the HCPC Test of Competence?▾
If HCPC has questions about your qualification or clinical experience, they may ask you to complete a Test of Competence — a written and/or practical assessment. Not everyone is asked for one; we help you understand whether it’s likely in your case and prepare for it if it is.
What documents do I need for HCPC registration?▾
Typically your passport, degree certificate, academic transcripts and marksheets, experience or reference letters, your English test result, and an updated CV. Some documents need to be certified or apostilled — we guide you through exactly what’s needed.
Do I need a UK DBS check to register with HCPC?▾
No — a DBS (background) check isn’t part of the HCPC registration process itself. It’s usually arranged later, once you have a UK employer, as part of onboarding.
What can I earn as a physiotherapist or radiographer in the UK after HCPC registration?▾
Most NHS roles for newly registered professionals sit on Band 5 of the NHS Agenda for Change pay scale. Exact figures change year to year, so we’d recommend checking the current NHS pay scales once you’re closer to applying for roles.
