Arts therapies covers three distinct HCPC-protected disciplines — art therapy, music therapy and dramatherapy. The UK benchmark is masters-level training that combines the art form, psychotherapeutic theory, supervised clinical placement and, distinctively, a requirement for the trainee’s own personal therapy. That last element is often absent from overseas programmes and is worth checking early.
