Does an Indian BOT qualify for HCPC registration?▾
A recognised BOT including the compulsory internship is the qualification most Indian occupational therapists register with. What decides the outcome is how well your fieldwork is documented — settings, client groups and hours — against HCPC’s standards.
How many fieldwork hours does HCPC expect?▾
HCPC does not publish a single hours figure you can tick off; it assesses whether your supervised practice was sufficient in range and depth. Practically, that means a placement log naming each setting and its duration is more persuasive than a single total.
My placements were mostly physical rehab. Is that a problem?▾
It is the most common gap for Indian-trained applicants, because a large share of UK occupational therapy is in mental health. It does not rule you out, but it is worth documenting any mental health exposure you do have, and any post-qualification work in that area.
What English requirement applies to occupational therapists?▾
The general HCPC standard: IELTS Academic 7.0 overall with no section below 6.5, or OET Grade B in every sub-test, within HCPC’s validity window. We confirm the current requirement during your eligibility check.
