Application
The CORU registration process has been updated as of January 2025. Previously, the process had two separate applications, one for Recognition and another for Registration. However, with the new update, CORU has combined both into a single application with two stages
Recognition
The Recognition stage is where CORU evaluates your educational qualifications and training to determine if they meet Irish standards, During this stage, CORU will assess:
Your Course Curriculum Document (CCD) to check your syllabus, theory, and practical training hours
Your Internship, Clinical Placement Records and research to verify hands-on experience
Your Experience Records, CPDs to ensure you have sufficient professional exposure
If your qualifications meet the required standards, your application will move to the Registration stage.
Registration
Once your qualifications are recognized, you move to the final registration stage.
In this stage, CORU will:
Verify all submitted documents
Review your police clearance and council registration
Ensure you meet the professional and ethical requirements for practice in Ireland
Once approved, you will receive your CORU registration number, officially allowing you to practice in Ireland!
